CASE STUDY: listening parties

Getting more money into artists’ pockets by deepening the fan-artist connection on Spotify.

ROLE: PROGRAM DESIGN LEAD

Spotify Listening Parties are exclusive, invite-only digital live audio experiences where top fans connect with their favorite artists. Within these parties, artists stream music, invite fans onto the virtual stage, sell merchandise, and directly interact with their audience. Additionally, fans can engage in real-time conversation using the first-ever chat feature introduced within Spotify. It’s a tailored, immersive experience, creating an intimate space for artist-fan interaction.

In this role I…

  • Led a team of product designers and content writers through the creation of an entirely new Spotify experience within an ambitious six-month timeframe. Oversaw and managed roadmaps, ensuring design milestones aligned with product development schedules.

  • Served as the Design Program Lead, collaborating with Product, Tech, and Insights leaders to establish a product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a 30+ person team.

  • Conducted sprints and workshops to deconstruct the abstract concept of ‘monetization’ into actionable product opportunities by identifying key value props and aligning stakeholders.

  • Worked closely with Product Insights to run user tests ahead of shipping.

  • Developed numerous concepts and prototypes, spanning user flows, vision storyboards, and production-ready high-fidelity designs.

  • Provided mentorship to junior product and content designers, fostering their professional growth and development.
